What is a School Improvement Coordinator?

At Vernon and throughout the Marion Independent School District, our mission is to help all students achieve and learn at high levels, and my main purpose as School Improvement Coordinator is to provide support and assistance to help you achieve these goals. Although I still do a lot of “behind the scenes” work, the most important part of my job is working directly with teachers and students, and I’m excited to get out there and do just that!

As my schedule allows, you should see me at some of your PLC team meetings – especially ones that involve student data. I will also be working with teachers through observation cycles, focusing on planning, observation, reflection over practice, and suggested next steps.

My goal is to be your resource for anything you might need to improve student achievement. While I am happy to help in any way I can, I’ve included a list of suggestions below:

  • Observation and Observation Cycles
  • Formative Assessment
  • Data Analysis
  • Instructional Strategies – Research and Implementation
  • Technology Integration
  • Standards Analysis and Alignment
  • Curriculum Design
  • RTI/Intervention Strategies
  • Enrichment and Extension Options
  • Blended Learning
  • Goal Setting and Tracking

These are just some of the ways I’m available to help. Even if you just want to brainstorm, investigate a particular strategy or instructional tool, or just chat about your ideas – please don’t hesitate to ask!
